NASCA Press Release: Jared Ambrosier Announced as 20 Under 40 Award Recipient

Lansing, MI — The National Association of State Chief Administrators (NASCA) proudly announces Jared Ambrosier, Chief Procurement Officer for the State of Michigan, as a NASCA 2025 20 Under 40 Award winner. This prestigious award recognizes 20 outstanding individuals from across the country for their exceptional contributions to state government.

Ambrosier possesses over 14 years of contracting experience and has held eight leadership roles within the state of Michigan, including four as the Chief Procurement Officer. Overseeing $2.5B of annual spend, Ambrosier has led procurement efforts in critical situations such as the Flint Water Crisis, the insourcing of prisoner food services, the Covid-19 pandemic, and the Benton Harbor line replacement project.

Caleb Bush, Chief Deputy Director at the Michigan Department of Technology, Management, & Budget, praised Ambrosier’s contributions to the state of Michigan.

“Jared Ambrosier joined the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget’s Central Procurement Services (CPS) as the youngest member of its management team at the age of 28 after having begun his career in public service at the Michigan Department of Military and Veteran’s Affairs. His expertise, hard work, and leadership led him to quickly rise up through the leadership chain, culminating in his selection as Michigan’s Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) within five years.”

Bush continued, “Under Jared’s leadership, Michigan has received many awards recognizing its innovative procurement practices and programs.”

Last year, Ambrosier was a member of the team recognized by NASCA’s 2024 Innovation Award in Digital Services, Data Management, Analytics and Visualization for Enhancing Vendor Compliance through RMIS Integration. He sits on multiple boards and academic councils, both public and private, in hopes of advancing procurement for all types of organizations.

Founded in 1976, NASCA is the nation’s only nonpartisan, nonprofit organization serving chief administrative officers or CAOs. NASCA provides a forum for state chief administrative officers to exchange information and learn new ideas from each other and private sector partners. NASCA engages states in transforming government operations through shared knowledge, operational excellence, and thought leadership.
